Remove a PDF Password – Unlock Files in Your Browser

This tool removes a password you already know. It does not guess, crack or bypass passwords. You type the current password, the tool opens the file with it and saves a copy that no longer asks for one.

It is useful when a document you are entitled to open keeps prompting for a password, for example a statement you receive every month or a file you protected yourself and no longer want to protect.

Use this only on files you own or are authorized to open. Removing protection from a document you have no right to access may be illegal, and this tool is not meant for that.

If the PDF opens without a password, the tool says so and there is nothing to remove.

If the tool says the password is incorrect, check capital letters, keyboard layout and any trailing space. Passwords are case-sensitive, and there is no way to recover one you have lost.

The tool handles PDFs that need a password to open. Some files open freely but restrict actions such as printing or editing; those are not covered here. Once unlocked, you can go on to compress, merge or sign the file with the other tools.
