Images come out exactly as they are stored

JPEG photos are extracted without recompression, so they keep exactly the quality and resolution of the original. The rest are saved as PNG, with their transparency when they have any.

These aren't screenshots of the pages but the document's original images. If what you want is an image of each full page, use PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG.

Limitations

Some formats can't be extracted, such as JPEG 2000 or black-and-white scans compressed with CCITT or JBIG2. The tool tells you how many images were left out.

Vector graphics, such as logos and charts drawn with strokes, aren't images and don't appear in the list. If a PDF only has text and vectors, the tool won't find anything.
