What cropping is for
Cropping removes blank margins, scanner edges or parts of a page you don't want to show, such as the header of a screenshot. It also helps a PDF read better on a small screen.
If you apply the same box to every page, it is calculated as a proportion of each one, so it also works with pages of different sizes.
Important: cropped content stays in the file
Cropping changes the visible area of the page, but the content outside it isn't deleted from the file: someone with the right tools could recover it. Don't use it to hide confidential information.
If you really need to remove parts of the document, delete whole pages with Delete PDF pages.

- Can I crop a PDF without losing quality?
- Yes. Only the visible area changes; text and images aren't recompressed.
- Is the cropped content deleted?
- No: it stops being visible but stays in the file. It isn't suitable for hiding confidential data.
