What this tool does, exactly
The tool separates a PDF into single-page PDFs and packs them into a ZIP. File names keep the original name plus the page number, padded so they sort correctly (for example report-01.pdf, report-02.pdf).
It splits every page. It does not have a page-range option, so if you only need some pages you have two easy routes, described below.
Extract only the pages you need
To keep a few pages from a long document, use Delete PDF pages: click the thumbnails you do not want and download the result. That gives you one PDF containing only the pages you kept.
To split into several parts, split into single pages here and then use Merge PDF to put together the groups you want. It takes two steps, but every step happens on your device.
Common uses and problems
People split PDFs to send a single page of a contract, to share one invoice from a monthly bundle, or to file scanned pages separately. A ZIP is used because a long document produces many files.
If the tool cannot read your file it may be password-protected; unlock it first if you are allowed to. A PDF with hundreds of pages can take a while on a phone, since every page is written as its own file on your device.
