What kind of damage can be fixed

Many PDFs won't open because their internal reference table is broken or incomplete, due to an interrupted download or save. In those cases the content is usually intact and rebuilding the structure is enough.

If the file already opens in the browser, the tool tells you and leaves you a rebuilt copy, which sometimes fixes errors in other programs.

When there is no fix

If parts of the content are missing, for example because the file is cut in half, that information can't be recovered. The complete pages are kept and, if none is complete, the tool tells you it couldn't repair the file.

Password-protected PDFs can't be repaired without unlocking them first; use Unlock PDF and try again.
